Children and Families
Please note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are offering online Faith Formation for Children & Families until further notice. Here is what we have to offer:
We will gather together starting in September! Some things to note:
“Sunday School” will be at-home and scheduled into the week on your family schedule. Each family will receive a Growing in God’s Love: A Story Bible(thanks to the Foundation!), curriculum for the month, and supplies you will need for activities — all delivered to your door!
We will also have age group gatherings:
PreK & K will meet via Zoom for our first gathering on Sunday, September 6at 11:30 a.m. We will enjoy storytime, games, music, and blessing. Our October gathering will be in-person (we hope!).
1st & 2nd graders will meet in-person outside on Sunday, September 13 at 11:30 a.m. We will enjoy spiritual practices, music, and blessings. Bring a beach towel with you!
3rd & 4th graders will meet in-person outside on Sunday, September 20 at 11:30 a.m. We will enjoy spiritual practices, music, and blessings. Bring a beach towel with you.
Sunday, September 27 will be a drive-thru event for the congregation! Children will dress as their favorite Bible character (you can borrow costumes if you need to). Church family and friends will drive-thru and try to guess who you are. The folks who guess the most correctly will receive a prize! Time TBA.
The in-person opportunities below are suspended until further notice:
FPC Children and Family Ministry offers a foundation for spiritual formation, opportunities for worship leadership, experience serving others, and the resources to continue faith-filled conversations at home. Infants through 5th graders and their families, from both our church and community, are invited to participate in all of our programs.
Join us Sundays, September-May at 9:45 a.m. Children experience age-appropriate Bible stories, engaging activities, missions, music and much more! Tweens (defined as ages 10-12, but welcome to anyone who considers themselves a Tween) and scripture.
Seasonal events include Advent Workshop, Lenten Workshop, Easter butterfly release, Pentecost Party, Children’s Christmas service, Trunk-or-Treat, On-the-Go Faith Bags, Summer at the Movies, Mystery Day, and more. Seasonal activities vary annually. Information is publicized via our newsletter, website, and Facebook.
Our nursery is staffed by childcare professionals and volunteers in a safe and loving environment. Infants, toddlers, and Pre-K children enjoy a warm, welcoming space fully equipped with books, toys, music, and care essentials. Using the Growing in Grace and Gratitude curriculum, children hear Bible stories and participate in activities in a space designed for their curiosity and learning through play. In our commitment to support and partner with families, we offer a special ministry to young families and their infant through 3 year old children: Splash!, by Augsburg-Fortress Publishing. At birth and one year, families receive a CD full of terrific music. Monthly parent pages provide information and support to parents as they minister to their child’s physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development.
Worship and Sacrament Education for Kindergarten Children
Children Worship Too! is available for children and their parents each fall as children graduate from our nursery care into the sanctuary. Children and their families learn about worship in age-appropriate, hands-on ways that encourage children to become more engaged in worship.
Learning to Use My Bible is a 5-week program for our 3rd grade children to introduce them to basics of using their Bibles. This engaging, age-appropriate class is an exciting experience full of games and activities that equip our children to confidently use their Bibles for a lifetime of study and worship. Personalized Bibles are presented to our 3rd graders during worship at the beginning of the program.
