Children and Families
Please note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are offering online Faith Formation for Children & Families until further notice. Here is what we have to offer:
Advent Festival, Sunday, November 22
Our Advent Festival will be Sunday, November 22 (the first Sunday of Advent is November 29) and will look a little different from others. This year, we invite everyone to drive thru between 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to get a Gingerbread Nativity Kit! You will take your kit home, make your Nativity, and send us a picture of the final creation. If you want to switch up your gingerbread creation, consider making one of the four Gospel homes. What would the home of Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John look like?
Parents: Making one of the four Gospel homes is a great way to connect the Advent Festival activity with the Advent Book Study! We will join together in reading Christmas in the Four Gospel Homes by Cynthia Campbell and engaging in conversation and study via zoom (dates/times TBA). How might a house look for Christmas based on what each Gospel says about it? In Christmas in the Four Gospel Homes, beautiful illustrations from architect Kevin Burns reimagine each of the four Gospels as a “house,” which the church visits at Christmas. In each section, Cynthia M. Campbell reflects on the distinctive perspective of the birth of Jesus or the incarnation offered by each Gospel. Christmas in the Four Gospel Homes creatively reimagines the season and inspires new and exciting reflection for Advent.
Participate in one or both of these opportunities. Books for the Advent Book Study cost $5. Gingerbread Nativity Kits cost $5. Please contact Charlotte Nance-Allbright or call 336-228-1703 x 223 to reserve your gingerbread nativity kit &/or book. If you are unable to cover the cost, provisions have been made so you can join the fun.

FPC Children and Family Ministry offers a foundation for spiritual formation, opportunities for worship leadership, experience serving others, and the resources to continue faith-filled conversations at home. Infants through 5th graders and their families, from both our church and community, are invited to participate in all of our programs.
Join us Sundays, September-May at 9:45 a.m. Children experience age-appropriate Bible stories, engaging activities, missions, music and much more! Tweens (defined as ages 10-12, but welcome to anyone who considers themselves a Tween) and scripture.
Seasonal events include Advent Workshop, Lenten Workshop, Easter butterfly release, Pentecost Party, Children’s Christmas service, Trunk-or-Treat, On-the-Go Faith Bags, Summer at the Movies, Mystery Day, and more. Seasonal activities vary annually. Information is publicized via our newsletter, website, and Facebook.
Our nursery is staffed by childcare professionals and volunteers in a safe and loving environment. Infants, toddlers, and Pre-K children enjoy a warm, welcoming space fully equipped with books, toys, music, and care essentials. Using the Growing in Grace and Gratitude curriculum, children hear Bible stories and participate in activities in a space designed for their curiosity and learning through play. For more information on our Nursery and Preschool Ministries, please click here.
In our commitment to support and partner with families, we offer a special ministry to young families and their infant through 3 year old children: Splash!, by Augsburg-Fortress Publishing. At birth and one year, families receive a CD full of terrific music. Monthly parent pages provide information and support to parents as they minister to their child’s physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development.
Worship and Sacrament Education for Kindergarten Children
Children Worship Too! is available for children and their parents each fall as children graduate from our nursery care into the sanctuary. Children and their families learn about worship in age-appropriate, hands-on ways that encourage children to become more engaged in worship.
Learning to Use My Bible is a 5-week program for our 3rd grade children to introduce them to basics of using their Bibles. This engaging, age-appropriate class is an exciting experience full of games and activities that equip our children to confidently use their Bibles for a lifetime of study and worship. Personalized Bibles are presented to our 3rd graders during worship at the beginning of the program.
