Preparation for Communion this Sunday, August 2

During our on-line worship service this Sunday, August 2, we will partake in communion. To join together in this Sacrament, you are asked to gather bread, wine or grape juice. You might even wish to make your own communion bread for this occasion. Here is an easy recipe for Eucharistic Bread. This recipe will make two one- pound loaves.

This indeed will be a different experience for all of us. Our Presbyterian Directory for Worship assumes that the Lord’s Supper will be administered in person in a gathered assembly. However, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)’s Office of Theology and Worship recently issued an Advisory Opinion that the Session can authorize the celebration of the Lord’s Supper within an electronic worship service during an emergency or pandemic. During this pandemic and while we are worshiping together online, we invite you to join us in celebrating the sacrament in your home. If you have any questions about this, please call (336-263-1884) or email Ron Shive.
