Furniture Ministry Continues to Serve

Despite the constraints of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Furniture Ministry continues to serve Alamance County citizens in need. Since the March 10 shutdown, 34 families have received the beds and home furnishings they so desperately needed. This is right on par with our number of clients served in normal times. Volunteers Kent and Denese Byrd are keeping the usual Monday 1:00-4:00 p.m. office hours, and grateful families have managed to arrange to pick up their own furniture that is left outside the warehouse door. The new system is working well!

Many partners are helping as usual. Elon University has recently donated approximately 125 XL twin mattresses that they had in storage. They will be giving some full size mattresses as well. Many thanks to the Women of the Church for their May donation and to others who are giving!  A student group at Eastern Guilford collected four boxes of books for children of our clients. And thanks to Elizabeth and Jerry Bailey for the donation of a refrigerator for the office!

For the protection of our volunteers and clients, the Ministry continues to accept donations of goods only on a careful case-by-case basis. Church members who have items to donate should call the Furniture Ministry at 336-212-2937.

Because Elon is not having their annual Don’t Trash It! linens collection, the Ministry is in urgent need of linens, blankets and comforters of all sizes except king.

Your support and your prayers are coveted as we do our best to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ during these challenging times.
